Dawson Rutledge is a solo singer-songwriter, musician, and performer from Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada.  In 2015, he was awarded the top male musician scholarship by his high school and a District/Authority Scholarship by the Ministry of Education for his exceptional musical ability. Dawson’s very first performance of an original song, Mysterious Woman, was in June of 2015 at the Key City Theatre. He has hardly taken a breath since, staying very busy performing, recording and writing a multitude of original songs. Dawson Rutledge has quickly become “…one of the most talked about musicians to come from this city.” (Kootenay News Advertiser August 2016)

His self-released debut album, titled Today, Tonight, Tomorrow, which features eight of his folk/alternative songs, has received radio play nationwide, with multiple chart appearances and positive reviews.  Mysterious Woman achieved Top 10 in CBC Music Searchlight 2016 for the Interior & Northern BC Region, with top voting accolades.

Dawson’s style of performing is extremely entertaining, accompanying himself with a kick-drum and a tambourine set-up at his feet. His style has been compared to that of artist Shakey Graves.  He sings with a beautiful unique tone, and alternates between his acoustic and electric guitars.  Dawson has been playing guitar since the age of 10 and started singing in choirs at the age of 8, but truly found his passion to be a singer-songwriter during his senior year of high school. He now has dozens of original songs to his credit, and has a powerful and captivating stage presence developed through many years of music and acting performances.

Dawson has performed at a wide variety of venues, ranging from art galleries to large capacity theatres.  His resume also includes local festivals, as well as festivals in Arizona and New Jersey.  He has been given the opportunity to open for many well-known artists, including Fred Penner, Tiller’s Folly, Lion Bear Fox and Barney Bentall.

Dawson Rutledge’s music is available to download/purchase on iTunes and Bandcamp.
